Earlier this year Metro launched an interesting approach to public input in the form of their “Opt In Panel” program, an opportunity to voluntarily register to take surveys on topics of interest/action by the Metro Council.
The current survey is on Active Transportation. If you haven’t already joined the program, this might be your moment.

It’s because responses are self-selecting that these types of surveys are just a shade better than useless, at best. For that reason, it’s very easy for decision makers to reject results when they don’t support personal agendas. Likewise, they can ignore the “unscientificedness” of a supportive survey.
If nothing else, it’s fun and a better pastime than many other activities.
