Time for another open thread:
- More of the same for TriMet and ATU.
- Metro wants to fast-track the UGB expansions approved in 2011, which have been held up by court challenges.
- Several upcoming meetings for the Southwest Corridor and the
- Contrary to popular belief, bicycle commuting is not just for yuppies.
- Washington State Sen. Don Benton (R-Vancouver) has introduced a bill in Olympia which would essentially make it illegal for Washington municipal governments to condemn private property for “use or possession by a governmental agency of another state”. One wonders what he could possibly be referring to.

It’s short but good. He draws a very interesting contrast between the jaded, change/development tolerant urbanites of NYC and the rural/suburban focus of much of our planning. And gets in a wicked but spot-on dig at our process mania.
Maybe he’ll come back.
In preparation for eventual deployment of electronic fare collection (not the phone app, but a card-based system of some sort), TriMet is lobbying the Oregon Legislature to protect rider data from public records requests.
Nice idea: putting a transit screen in every office and apartment lobby to let people see all their possible transit choices before they step out the door.
I imagine that could be a fairly dizzying array of options on the transit mall, though.
