Transportation Job: Smart Trips Downtown


Received from PDOT yesterday:

Transportation Options is hiring for a limited term (2 years, possibly longer if additional funding is provided) Transportation Demand Management Specialist I to work on our Smart Trips Downtown program. This program is modeled after our successful Eastside Hub and Northeast Hub individualized education & incentive programs. We will be working with downtown employers and their employees to encourage more people to walk, bike and take transit during light rail construction on our downtown mall. Since the #14, my bus line, and one of the more popular ones in the system –8% of downtown ridership– won’t take us anywhere downtown anymore except 3 stops on Second Avenue…will the person hired in this position be able to look at alternative bus or jitney services during the 2.5 years of the mall re-build? That would be really cool so we can recapture some of the ridership the #14 is bound to lose.

  2. Somebody look at the On/Off data on the 14; TriMet has it for every stop. As I recall it does empty out by the time it hits 6th Avenue, but this data will tell the story. Why else would it not do the 4th/3rd loop at least to Burnside like most other lines.
