Passport Control Holding up Seattle to Vancouver Rail Service?

Passed on by a reader…

Apparently all the necessary capital improvements have been made to add an additional daily train between Seattle and Vancouver, B.C., but the Canadian Border Service is holding things up.

Let’s hope they sort this out before the Olympics…

  1. It is absurd they’re doing this. If anything they should just open the damn border anyway… I mean really Canada America America Canada… whatever, we view each others country almost like it is just an extension of our own. It’s the politicians that make a mess of it.

But on other notes, the contruction of the sidings and everything went super fast and to schedule. It was BNSF, I’d expect nothing less form them.

We may be culturally and economically similar. But our politics are by no means the same. Canada’s system of government, the parliamentary system, is far more superior to ours.

  3. It should be noted that the United States – not Canada – was the first to implement stricter border crossing requirements (after 9/11).

Canada simply implemented very similar rules…either you’re going to go one way and back where you came from (thus the same rules make it easier), or it’ll create a one-way flow for criminals (which Canada certainly does not want).
