Drive Green, Save Green?

Here’s an interesting partnership: City Center Parking and the Oregon Environment Council.

They’ve teamed up to produce www.drivegreensavegreen.org, a program to encourage people to make more environmentally responsible choices in acquiring, driving and maintaining their cars, saving money in the process.

Every little bit helps. And money motivates.

  1. I was gonna ask if they give the credibleness of a Toyota Prius and Honda Insight a true lookover and notch up the fact that the Toyota Echo, Nissan Sentra (ULEV), Honda Civic, and all those cars are more economically and technically more environmentally sound then he hybrids. Then I looked at the main page. :(

Oh well, so much for logic and reason.

The Prius, Inisght, etc are of course clean cars, don’t get me wrong, but their manufacturing and economic impact go far far past their mere “appearance” as eco friendly cars. They are not all they’re cut up to be. They are at best a “stop gap” measure until the industry can start producing something that IS clean that can truly take the place of the current automobile technology.

But I must agree with one thing, I too appreciate their effort, I just hope they look at all the concrete facts.
