What Google Has Done for Public Transportation

A good piece on Xconomy about what Google has helped enable with information about transit service. Portland and our local thought leaders are highlighted.

If Google wants everyone to stop driving, why is their HQ on sprawled out pieces of land in the suburbs (albeit close to transit)? Just look at what Amazon has done in Seattle, it's a stark contrast.

The "Googleplex" over a 2 miles from the closest Caltrain and light rail station, so I wouldn't call it "close to transit". The #40 bus does stop across the street, but that's it: http://g.co/maps/26psn
Google DOES run their own buses to get employees to the campus from San Francisco and other locations, but they picked a bad place for rapid transit to ever serve them.
